Architecture Plus; Good for The Community

As a follow up to our last blog, we wanted to share some examples of how we are promoting and supporting the community with some of our most recent projects!

During these unknown and stressful times it's good to know that once this is all over, we can and will return to life stronger than ever before. We will be there to help build the houses and buildings you've been dreaming up while spending time at home. There is a silver lining to this, and we hope you've been using your time wisely to dream up the amazing structures and to check out our website! We wanted to do a follow-up blog based off of our previous one, celebrating all the positive things architecture can do for your community, with a few examples we have done for this community already and will continue to offer. We encourage you to visit our website to see all of the examples we will be discussing in this blog and to see a few pictures that go along with each example. We are going to be focusing on our commercial builds, but we will dip into some of our residential builds too.

  • HBIG Retail Center

This upcoming project is going to be a big one, and we are very excited about it. The 15,000 SF structure made up of two buildings, will be home to a very contemporary boutique facility and a restaurant tenant. It can also house other businesses. This new facility will provide much-needed support for the businesses that are surrounded nearby, more jobs, and more business in this growing area.

  • LEVELWING

This one-story building made up of 10,000 SF, was repurposed into new tenant spaces. Levelwing, a pharmacy, and two business tenants new reside there. This is an example of taking an old building within a community and making it something totally new. This building brought new life to the area, a new opportunity for each of the new tenants, helped with keeping the community healthy, prevented tearing down an original structure to build something completely new, and provided more job opportunities to the surrounding community. It also gives access to another pharmacy for the community.

  • STARBUCKS

We love our coffee here in the Lowcountry! This construction brought the first drive-through Starbucks to Daniel Island, as well as the largest Starbucks in the whole state of South Carolina. There is also an attached boutique wine store, Bin 526, that fulfills an underserved customer demand. Bin 526 is an excellent wine shop, something that didn't exist in this particular community until this structure was built. This 10,000 SF single-story commercial building was carefully designed to respond to its existing streetscape of this neo-traditional neighborhood. It was also built as a response to the need for these products on Daniel Island and provided more jobs for the area. The residents no longer need to drive a far distance to get their preferred bottle of wine or cup of coffee, keeping them both safe and happy.

  • THE ROSE RESIDENCE

This home was restored and renovated by Architecture Plus to the beauty it is known for today. It keeps with the vernacular settings of Kiawah Island, celebrating what Kiawah is all about while maintaining the look the residents are known to have and love about their homes. It is a reflection and a celebration of the community around it. Many of our homes built on Kiawah are surrounded by the natural elements we love about the Lowcountry. We help preserve them and draw inspiration from them in our designs.

  • PARK CLUB CONDOS

These buildings contain six units that have three bedrooms each. They were each designed to be in harmony with its natural surroundings. The developer asked us to design a timeless two building multi-family high-end luxury condominium living project. Each elevated building has six 2500 SF units, private parking below, and has a view of the surrounding golf course. These condos are a great example of helping with the building crisis in Charleston, as the population continues to grow rapidly every day. It is especially helping families who are wanting to make Charleston their home, and for many years to come. These condos are another wonderful example of celebrating and protecting the natural elements surrounding the condos. They are also timeless, giving these condos an extended lifetime to last through the many years to come, without needing to change them or tear them down to be replaced. They will become a staple throughout the community and have already started to become one.

It is in the little details that our company gives back and helps preserve in the Lowcountry that makes us unique and stand out. Architecture can do so many things for a community, and we are so thankful to have the opportunity to give back to one of the most beautiful in the country!
